JORGE ROJAS
Jorge Rojas is a multidisciplinary artist, performer, curator, and educator working with socially engaged art, installation, and performance. Rojas has performed live and virtually for over fifteen years, presenting his work nationally and internationally in galleries and museums in Mexico, Canada, and the United States. His work is in numerous private and public collections, including The Mexican Museum, San Francisco; Museum of Latin American Art, Long Beach; New Jersey State Museum, Trenton; Utah Arts and Museums; and Salt Lake County. He has received grants and fellowships from the National Performance Network, Vermont Studio Center, Project Row Houses, Salt Lake Arts Council, Kimball Art Center, the Taft Nicholson Center, and The Arts and Culture Foundation, Taiwan. In 2019, Rojas was named one of Utah’s Most Influential Artists by Artists of Utah /15 Bytes. Rojas’s art was included in the 2020 Immigrant Artist Biennial out of NYC, and he was awarded a 2022 Visual Arts Fellowship for the Utah Division of Arts & Museums. In 2024, he received a National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC) Fund for the Arts award. His solo exhibition Coyotek is on view at the El Paso Museum of Art through July 13. Rojas’s combined practice as an artist, curator, and educator aligns with his passion for working with communities and arts institutions toward social, racial, and cultural justice.
Jorge Rojas es un artista multidisciplinario, intérprete, curador y educador que trabaja con arte socialmente comprometido, instalación y performance. Rojas ha realizado performances en vivo y virtuales durante más de quince años, presentando su trabajo a nivel nacional e internacional en galerías y museos en México, Canadá y Estados Unidos. Su obra se encuentra en numerosas colecciones privadas y públicas, incluyendo el Museo Mexicano, San Francisco; el Museo de Arte Latinoamericano, Long Beach; el Museo Estatal de Nueva Jersey, Trenton; las Artes y Museos de Utah; y el Condado de Salt Lake. Ha recibido subvenciones y becas de la Red Nacional de Performance, el Centro de Estudios de Vermont, Project Row Houses, el Consejo de Artes de Salt Lake, el Centro de Arte Kimball, el Centro Taft Nicholson y la Fundación de Artes y Cultura, Taiwán.
